Last week, I attended the JRocket Marketing December roadshow where I received updates from enterprise software vendors SYSPRO and Elysian Field Software. I am very familiar with SYSPRO, but this was my first interaction with Elysian Field Software.
Formerly Epiphany, Elysian Field began as reseller of NetSuite ERP software. NetSuite provides ERP solutions for small and medium-sized businesses. But as a reseller of ERP software for the small and midsize business, the company noticed that solutions often lacked enhanced functionality for many line of business job roles. Therefore, the organization is introducing additional functionality in field service and human capital management. Under the Epiphany brand, the company will continue to be committed to reselling NetSuite, but, starting this spring, also offer additional solutions focused on improving success through the following modules under the Elysian Field brand. For human capital management:
- Applicant Tracking
- General Human Capital Management
- Performance Management
- Compensation Management
- Manager Self-Service
- Third-Party Integrations
- Customized Reports
And for field service:
- Work Order Management
- Rentals Management
- Depot Repair
- Job Costing
- Contract and Warranty Management
- Scheduling and Dispatch
- Technician Skill Management
- Mobile Tech
For the small and midsize organization, supplementing their ERP with enhanced functionality is a typical strategy when the functionality contained within ERP cannot fulfill the needs of organizations that differentiate themselves in particular areas. For example, this could include HCM for professional services organizations, or service for certain types of manufacturers. In fact, data collected for my report Improve Your Midmarket Business Operations with Cloud Applications finds that 43% of Best-in-Class midmarket organizations have additional functionality for workforce management in comparison to 30% of All Others. Building these types of solutions helps to tap into a potential large market for Elysian Field.
Beyond providing this functionality to small and medium-sized businesses, part two of Elysian Field’s strategy is its “Mantra Teams”. Elysian Field will offer a pool of potential contractor contacts for its customers to directly hire highly experienced people to solve specific business issues. Such as, for example, a short-term HCM expert to help with implementation. These resources can help Elysian Field customers to get more value out of their solution.
Next, let’s move on to SYSPRO. If you’ve followed my blog, you’d know that SYSPRO is a comprehensive, flexible ERP vendor that supports a variety of industries including aerospace, automotive, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and wholesale / distribution. Much of what we focus on at this event involved new functionality built for the container shipping industry, which will be sold by SYSPRO US for US customers who have global shipping requirements. This module has been built to help manage voyages and ensure that shipments are fulfilled, traceability is provided, and costs are contained. One of the biggest challenges in this industry is determining when products are available to deliver, this module help organizations to ensure that containers are utilized effectively. My report Rapid ERP Implementation Packages: Shorter Projects, Quicker ROI found that Best-in-Class organizations are more likely to have an ERP solution that is industry-specific. When SYSPRO builds solutions specific to industries that have unique problems, it is creating a competitive advantage that will make customers more effective.
Overall, the recent JRocket Marketing roadshow was a great event that provided insight on two vendors providing innovative solutions for growing businesses.
