Recently, I attended the Acumatica customer and partner summit in San Diego, CA. I have attended Acumatica’s summit for the last few years and have been able to observe Acumatica’s rapid ascent in the SMB market for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
When I first started attending Acumatica’s summits, the audience was almost completely filled with their partners.
This year, for the first time, 23% of the attendees were Acumatica customers. This enabled me to interact with more than a few and get a good idea of where the company stands today. From these conversations, I’m confident in saying that Acumatica has shown a keen eye for the needs of customers in the SMB market.
This observation was reflected in the company’s announcement at the event of Acumatica 6.1. According to the company, this release contains several improvements, including:
- Enhanced distribution capabilities
- Improved dashboards and data visualizations
- Mobile capabilities
- New expense management functionality
- Improved responsiveness of long-running processes
These features are designed to support growth in an SMB organization. Of particular interest to me here were Acumatica’s mobile capabilities. My recent research has found that users at Best-in-Class companies are 47% more likely to enjoy access to ERP from mobile devices.
Of course, even at these organizations, the entire ERP suite is not available via mobile. Rather, mobile use of ERP is intended to fit a specific purpose. Indeed, the Best-in-Class are 56% more likely to have mobile ERP apps that are tailored for specific roles or processes.
It was clear from the summit that Acumatica is thinking about mobile access along similar lines. For example, Acumatica highlighted their service management functionality, which features:
- Map integration
- Signature capture
- GPS integration
These features are specifically designed to support the field service worker. Further use cases include expense reporting and order management.
By allowing for data access and data entry at the point of activity, organizations can ensure agile decision making and data accuracy. Growing businesses need to be agile. Acumatica supports continued growth by including features like these in their latest release.
Acumatica has seen tremendous growth over the last few years, and Acumatica 6.1 is poised to provide Acumatica customers with the tools they need to support growth. I look forward to seeing the results at next year’s Acumatica summit.
