This blog provides a sneak peek into findings from Aberdeen’s customizable Prospect Monitoring Service. This entry zeroes in on “Blockchain in Manufacturing.”

Aberdeen’s new Prospect Monitoring Service identifies active researchers in any defined market, on any topic of interest. It provides continuous insight powered by a repository of over 100 billion content consumption events annually across a consortium of over 3,500 websites.

This continuous insight is informed by the consortium’s Active Researcher Algorithm. The algorithm, triggered by significant increase in research volume (or, surge in interest) within a defined market, determines the company/site of each researcher through reverse IP lookup. A weekly flow of active, identified prospects are then funneled to Aberdeen clients who sell their solutions into a defined market of interest.

The Prospect Monitoring Service is fully customizable, capable of informing you about surging topics and active researchers in many defined markets, such as manufacturing technologies (e.g. operations management, product lifecycle management, quality management systems, etc.). This particular blog post considers the target market “Manufacturing” and the topic “Blockchain Technology.”

Just how curious are today’s manufacturers about blockchain? The answer is, “Very curious, indeed.” On February 12, 2018, we analyzed weekly surge data on users in the manufacturing industry who were actively researching blockchain technology (Figure 1).

What were the results? Users on 109,000 website domains researched “Blockchain Technology” this week, while 85,000 researched the related term “Distributed Ledgers.” In the middle were users on the 96,000 domains that searched “Blockchain.”

Aberdeen clients who subscribe to Prospect Monitoring can anticipate detailed weekly reports on this or any other technologies targeted to their areas of interest.

Prospect Monitoring reports are anything but one-dimensional, and typically segment surge data in a number of ways: by industry sub-segment, company size, company location, even regional slices. For example, there are currently 17 sub-industries in manufacturing. For a sneak peek of four of our favorites, see Figure 2.

The central insight in this sample data is clear:

This week, ‘Blockchain Technology’ interest among manufacturers in the industrial equipment segment is surging at a rate two to three times higher than all other sub-segments above.”

For an Aberdeen client interested in selling blockchain solutions into a market of interest, they can expect to uncover many similar high-impact insights each week via their customized Prospect Monitoring report. Each report highlights surging active research areas in the defined market and technology, and pinpoints immediate, targeted solution-selling opportunities.
